The 196-foot Darlings Danama is a 2011 launch from the CRN shipyard in Italy. She entered charter in mid-summer last year, and she is now preparing for her first full season of Mediterranean yacht charter.

“Darlings Danama has a light, airy, contemporary interior décor that is not just beautiful, but that actually feels soothing,” says Yachtstore charter broker Gina Robertson. “It’s almost as if someone took a luxury spa and cranked it up a notch in terms of elegance. She’s just stunning.”

Darlings Danama accommodates 12 guests in six cabins. The master is on the main deck and includes a private outdoor deck. The VIP is on the upper deck and is being marketed as a “presidential suite.”

There is a glass elevator onboard serving four of the yacht’s decks. Glass is also integral to the design of the master suite’s bathroom, which boasts a glass-front tub surrounded by shimmering opal-colored mosaic tile.

“Because Darlings Danama came into charter so late in the summer season last year, this summer really is the first time she’s available in the Mediterranean during the entirety of the season,” Robertson says. “Some great cruising dates are still open, but they won’t last long.”

One of the megayachts that was truly impressive at the MYBA Charter Show in Italy earlier this month is the 203-foot Viareggio Superyachts build RoMa.

“RoMa is the epitome of luxury, with 16 crew for 12 guests and an incredible amount of interior volume and amenities,” says Yachtstore charter broker Gina Robertson.  “She was built in 2010 and still looks as good as new. Her chef really impressed luncheon guests during an event at the Genoa show earlier this month, too.”

RoMa is also one of the latest megayachts to add an inflatable water slide to her arsenal of water toys. The slide attaches to the top deck when RoMa is at anchor, and guests can turn any private harbor into their own personal water park.

Because of RoMa’s sheer size, the experience is truly unique. About a dozen smaller motoryachts also have water slides, but few offer the height that RoMa can from her top deck.

“With megayachts that are more than 200 feet long, the charter experience really is taken to a whole other level,” Robertson says.

The final event of the America’s Cup World Series is scheduled to take place June 23 through July 1 in Newport, Rhode Island, where yacht charter opportunities abound.

“This is such an unusual opportunity for yacht charter,” says Yachtstore charter broker Gina Robertson. “Not only do clients get a chance to see the incredible racing yachts up close and in action, but they also get to be part of the excitement on land, with an almost festival-like atmosphere.”

A number of sailing yachts are offering week-long charter packages, and some are also offering day rates for this event only.

More Magic, a 76-foot Discovery, is among the luxury sailing yachts offering a day rate for the America’s Cup event. The regular weekly base rate for six guests to charter More Magic is $18,000 plus all expenses. During the trials, More Magic is offering a single-day rate of $4,500 that includes breakfast, lunch, and cocktails with canapés along with cruising for as many as eight guests.

The inclusive rate allows use of More Magic from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on a single day, with cruising in Newport Harbor as well as in Narragansett Bay.

“It’s unusual for luxury yachts to offer inclusive day rates, but since this event is special, so is this offer,” Robertson says. “It’s a great opportunity for anyone who wants to experience the America’s Cup trials, but who can’t devote an entire week to the event.”
