Yacht Charter Croatia: 1,185 Islands to Explore
As the winter charter season progresses in the Caribbean and Indian Ocean, a number of luxury charter yachts are already making plans for the summer 2012 season. Many will visit the Western Mediterranean, but more and more are considering charters in the Eastern Mediterranean—where Croatia has become a must-visit destination for anyone interested in solitude and scenery.
“Croatia alone has 1,185 islands, reefs, and rocks to explore,” says Yachtstore charter broker Gina Robertson. “It has 600 lighthouses. There are 350 harbors, marinas, and anchorages. There are national parks. There are UNESCO Heritage Sites. It’s the perfect yachting destination, set apart from the hustle and bustle of the Côte d’Azur.”

Town of Dubrovnik, Croatia
Until Croatia joins the European Union in July 2013, charters must either pick up or drop off in another country for legal reasons. In Croatia, a new marina is scheduled to open in Sivenek in June 2012. In nearby countries, there are already good marina facilities as well.
“The rule about pick-ups and drop-offs is actually a great thing,” Robertson says, “because Montenegro is right there, and it also has gorgeous scenery. Another option is starting or ending a charter on the west coast of Italy, just across the Adriatic Sea. If you’ve ever wanted to visit Venice, then you could easily combine a visit there with a charter in Croatia.”
One of the charter yachts expected to visit Croatia this summer is the 125-foot Moonen Northlander. Others are currently making plans, as well. Contact Robertson today to learn which charter yachts are heading to Croatia this summer, and to book a week onboard while there is still availability.
